This is an
introductory course, which develops student problem solving skills, with
emphasis placed upon the concept of developing a 3-D model or solid rendering of
an object. Students focus on the application of visualization processes and
tools provided by modern, state of the art computer hardware and software. The
course will emphasize the design development process of a product and how a
model of that product is produced, analyzed and evaluated, using a computer
aided design system through the creation of various products such as a desk set,
puzzle cube, weathervane, or injection molded soap dish. Techniques learned are
equally applicable to areas such as garment design, archaeological or accident
reconstruction, simulated surgery, advertising or animated films. This course is
an Art Education and Technology Education course and can be used as a substitute
for the Art/Music graduation requirement for graduation. DDP is the first course
in the Project Lead the Way Pre-Engineering foundation course sequence.
