THE
ANNUAL HOLIDAY
COMMUNITY FOOD BASKET PROJECT
It’s that time of year
again! The elementary school’s annual Holiday Community Food
Basket Project has been kicked-off since November 1st, 2006.
The theme for this year’s initiative is “SHOOT FOR THE
STARS….HELP OTHERS!” Last year we collected a total of
4,952 food and toiletry items for this drive. Our goal for
this year is to collect 5,000 items. Star stickers are placed
by students on the “Shoot for the Stars” mural located in the
cafeteria. One star for each item donated is given to all
classes on a daily basis. Classroom teachers choose different
students to perform this task. Weekly prizes are given to one
primary class and one intermediate class that collect the most
items for that given week. Prizes include popcorn, ice cream,
donut and cookie parties w/ a beverage. These prizes have been
donated by local businesses, faculty and parents. The grand
prize will be a pizza party for the most items donated overall
by one primary and one intermediate classroom. Student Council
will be providing the financial means for this to occur. Final
tallies, awards, etc. are all celebrated at the school’s
annual “Giving Tree” holiday assembly on December 22nd in the
high school auditorium. All donations will be staying right
here in the local communities!
