Media Awareness Project

Welcome to the Media Awareness Research Project.
Please use the links below to conduct your research for this project.
 Please follow  these steps while researching your topic.

Step 1.  Choose a topic you wish to research and tell me.  (Choosing a topic works on a first come, first serve process.)

Step 2.  Begin researching your topic using the links below.

Step 3.  When your find an article you wish to use - print it

Step 4.  Highlight important aspects of the article.

Step 5.  Begin a pink research sheet.  On the left hand side summarize the article in your own words.  If there is a specific quote from the article you want to use, copy it in this space.

Step 6.  Complete the right hand side (response) of the pink research sheet.  This is where you should reflect on what the article means to you.  What do you find surprising or interesting?  What do you agree with or disagree with?  What are the more important aspects of this article?  Can you make any connections between the information in the article and your prior knowledge or personal experiences?

Step 7.  Complete the pink research sheetBe sure to answer the question about media bias on the bottom. Give specific examples from the text that reveal its bias, if any. If you need more space, write on the back.  Also, be sure to fill out all of the necessary information on the top of the sheet.

Step 8.  Staple article and pink research sheet together.

Step 9.  Hand in to teacher (Me). See calendar for due date.  You can hand them in early.

Step 10.  Continue to research with the provided links.

Remember:  You need to find at least one article that supports and one that does not support your issue.
                      You will need to use the passwords provided to you in class to access several of these sites.
