National Junior Honor Society
Membership Requirements
There are chapters in more
than 5,000 middle level schools across the nation.
Each of the National Junior Honor Society Chapters unite in the common
goal of creating enthusiasm for scholarship, a desire to render service,
promotion of leadership, and the development of good character and
citizenship. Each member
excels in these five above ideals and these ideals are the basis for selection
into the National Junior Honor Society.
Membership in the National Junior Honor Society is considered on honor.
To be eligible
for membership the candidate must be enrolled as a member of the 7th
grade or 8th grade class at Galway Middle School.
Candidates shall then be evaluated on the basis of service, leadership,
character and citizenship, by completing an information form.

cumulative scholastic average of at least an 89.5 of their prior 1.5 years;

Galway
Middle School NJHS will be involved in one or more service projects during the
school year. Each member will be
asked to be involved in an individual service project as well.
Members who’s “Service Card” is completed by the end of the school
year will be able to participate in the chapter’s end of the year field trip.
Membership is an honor bestowed upon a student. Selection for membership is by majority vote of the faculty council and is based on outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, service and citizenship.
