Let's get some bright ideas going

Project 5: Geometry

In this project you will be constructing nets, polyhedra and working with volume.

The completed project is due April 11th.

Checkpoint April 2nd, be ready to show 1 thing completely done and 1 other thing almost done.

1. You need to make nets of the following polyhedra. Use blank or construction paper and a ruler to be as exact as you can be. You are to actually make crease marks to show where you would fold the shape. I should be able to fold and close your net so there will be no gaps or overlays. The overall size of the polyhedra doesn't matter. LABEL each polyhedron with its correct name!

2. Construct the polyhedra from the set Mrs. Herron assigns you. Use posterboard or other firm material so the shape is sturdy and not floppy. You must use the measurements listed below. All the measurements are in inches. I have Set # ____________.

Set 1 polyhedra length width height
cube 4 inches 4 inches 4 inches
triangular pyramid 5 5 3

Set 2 polyhedra length width height radius
rectangular prism 5 3 2 -
cylinder - - 7 3

Set 3 polyhedra length width height
square pyramid 4 4 6
triangular prism all sides of triangle measure 4 6

3. Complete one of the Balloon on Parade sheet that Mrs. Herron assigns you. SHOW ALL YOUR WORK, FORMULAS AND LABELS. I have worksheet __________

4. Your choice: Either make the Geometric Art (get directions and color it) OR complete the Furnace Planning Worksheets (show all work, formulas and label).
