What
is Math?
What is Math?
by Kelly
Math was first
invented by the Greeks. It is a very interesting and useful subject. We have
been using it ever since the Greeks invented it. Math has become very important
to people, because without math then we would never know what the shape the
Earth is or how many miles we would need to travel from here to New England.
Many people depend on math for their jobs or cooking. Life is one big math
problem. You always seem to have a math problem that needs to be solved. It is
very important and has many uses in the world. It has many different meanings
that are all correct.
Everyone has a
different opinion on what they think math really is. I think math surrounds us,
everywhere and what we do every day. When you cook, go to work, or are running
you are performing math. When you are cooking you need to measure how much you
need to put into the recipe, when you work you need to make a plan of what time
you're going to do what. When you are running you need to know how much you're
running or you might run too far and get lost. It is a very important and
interesting subject. We use it all the time whether we know it or not. It has
many problems that always need to answered. When you are working you need to
solve many math problems, like if you're a cashier you need to know how to count
money quickly.
Math is a way
of life. If we didn't know math then we wouldn't have many things. We probably
wouldn't have the nice homes that we do now, because carpenters wouldn't know
the length and height of things and some things would come out very wrong. We
would also not have as much technology as we do today, because scientists need
to solve many math equations in order to advance technology, like cloning. In
cloning you need to know how much DNA you take from an animal or it won't
succeed. Life is a math problem, because almost everything that we do is a math
problem. When we go shopping you need to know approximately know how much you
need to pay. If you have a budget you need to add all of the money that was
spent and compare it to your budget.
