Group Midterm Paper
Some people think that math is only adding and subtracting, some may say it is geometry, or that it was hard, and others say it was easy. You all have had math from kindergarten to sixth grade and now you have had five more months of math in 7th grade. During those five months I have tried to show you that math encompasses a lot and is used often.
Within your group you each need to discuss the question: "What is math?" and write an essay that reflect EVERYONE'S viewpoint. You should use examples from class and from the real world that help support your opinion. Each person should have a role in this paper. One person could be the secretary and write the first draft. One person could be the editor and another person could rewrite or type the final draft. Everyone's opinion should be included in the paper and no one should do more work than the rest.
You will be graded with two grades. The
first grade will be an overall group grade that I give the group on the content
and quality of the paper. The second grade will be an individual grade that you
will receive based on the opinion of the group and the documentation you give me
(telling me what part of the project you did).
This essay will count as a quiz grade.
This paper is due Friday January 5, 2007. You will have today's class time ONLY to work on it, if you do not get done then you will have to use your own time.
