Galway Friends of Music is a non-profit
organization operating within the Galway Central School District in
support of the school music program. GFOM’s general aim is to
encourage the active participation and interest of students,
parents, friends, and the community in the school music program.
GFOM participates, at the discretion of the Executive Board, in
fundraising activities for the benefit of the school music program.
They also coordinate volunteer help to assist with publicity and
refreshments for music events. Meetings are usually held in the H.S.
Chorus room (306) on the last Tuesday of the month (listed in the
district calendar).
A few of GFOM’s goals are to provide a means
for senior scholarships (outstanding musicians and students who are
continuing their music education at the collegiate level),
purchasing of new instruments and other music equipment, funding musical
productions and trips, and student recognition (awards, receptions,
performance opportunities, etc.).
