What is Galway PTSA……

The Galway PTSA is an organization comprised of parents, teachers, students and community members all working towards the common goal of enhancing and enriching the lives of all the children in our community.

What do we do……

We work with school administration and faculty to provide volunteer and monetary support for all students in grades K-12. Below are some of the events, programs and goals of the Galway PTSA:

High School

We provide monetary support to…….

bullet 27 awards given away to graduating seniors
bullet Academic Award Banquet
bullet After Prom Party in conjunction with SADD

We organize…..

bullet HS BBQ held during field day
bullet Graduation Reception held immediately following graduation
bullet We created a program in 2004 in which we have 5th grade students write a letter to the juniors and seniors asking them to please remember to make good decisions during the prom and graduation season. This program benefits all involved by reminding our older students to be responsible and safe and giving our 5th grade students an opportunity to use the skills they learned through the DARE program.

PTSA Achievements and Goals

bullet New playground located next to the Creative Playground: Started the process of fundraising and planning in 2003 / finished 2005
bullet New Pavilion to be built near the track: aggressive planning – pavilion to be completed by Fall of 2008
bullet New outside basketball court: Is on hold for now until Capital project work decided upon

How do we do all this…….

We raise funds through our annual fundraiser, school pictures and the book fair. These funds are used for our yearly events and programs. We raise funds towards the achievement of our goals through box tops, Hannaford register tapes, the sale of our tote bags, ink jet cartridge recycling and target donations. We also, organize special events such as bake sales, raffles and auctions.

And as you can guess, we need the talents and time of many volunteers! Volunteering does not mean that you are committed to helping every week or even every month. If you could just volunteer a couple of hours each school year – you would make a huge difference. The more volunteers – the less work for all of us!

“Many hands, Make light work”
