Since 1988, I have worked for Sun Microsystems in Menlo Park, | California, as a technical writer and computer programmer with an  interest in operating systems, computer languages, and digital  typography. After graduating from Galway in 1964, I earned a BA in  Literature from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. From  1969 to 1971, I performed alternative service as a conscientious  objector (IA-O) at a school for retarded children in Massachusetts.| From 1973 through 1978, I worked for the African Studies Association | at Brandeis University as a typesetter, editor, book designer, and | database designer. In 1978, I relocated to Berkeley, California,  where I did freelance publishing and computer work for UCLA and the  University of California Press. I was married in 1968, divorced in  1971, no children. I enjoy the San Francisco Bay Area, but sometimes  miss the beauty of the Mohawk Valley. Life is good. I owe a great  deal to the high quality education I received at Galway
