Today is Monday, March 18th, and it is a B day!

It's National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week. SADD is taking the opportunity to share a different fact everyday to spread awareness about substance use. 

Today's fact pertains to: Opioids.

Opioids are known as a highly addictive pain killer drug that can be provided legally by prescription. In 2021 approximately 80,411 people died from an overdose involving an opioid. Stay healthy, safe, and drug free Eagle Nation!

 

Thanks to all the teachers who made Friday night a lot of fun at the GTA vs. Albany DJs basketball game! Thanks to all the students and families and supporters who attended! Over $3600 was raised for the Scholarship Fund! The teachers won by 1 point thanks to Avery Albarelli for hitting the game winning shot! We hope to see everyone again next year!

Congratulations to Seth Kenyon on his 4th place finish in Employment Skills at the Sub State FFA Leadership Contests in Windsor this weekend. Seth gave a fantastic set of mock interviews to place him 4th out of a very competitive group of 23. Great job, Seth!

For the first year ever, the Eagles will have a team from every division representing Galway at the Odyssey of the Mind State Tournament in Syracuse on April 13th! Congratulations to the JV girls basketball team on finishing their season last week with a 35 to 16 win over Schoharie in the crossover game. Brielle Cameron led the team with a game high 16 points. The team had a great season finishing with 14 and 6 record. Captains for the team during the season were Kiersten Friday, Kristina Becker, Lilly Jessop, Amelia Jordan, and Emma Menge. The full roster of players also included Sadie Stead, Kaitlyn Delsavio, Lilly Bain, Marliegh Morse, Ava Thompson and Colleen Thorpe.Some of the highlights of the season included winning against each team in the league, winning the Mayfield Holiday tournament, and winning over a tough Hoosic Valley team at home by 14 points. Congrats on a great season, Eagles!

Today is Monday, January 29th, and it is an A day! Welcome to Third Quarter!

Last Friday night the boys varsity basketball team came back to defeat Northville for their 3rd straight win. This Wednesday night the team plays Duanesburg, the 10th ranked Class C team in the state, at home, so be sure to go to the game to cheer them on! 

 

Attention 6th, 7th and 8th graders! Intramurals are TODAY in the elementary gym from 2:30pm to 3:20pm.You must have sneakers and appropriate clothing to participate. Happy New Year! Today is Tuesday, January 2nd, and it is a B day. We hope you all had a good, relaxing break!

Over the break the girls’ varsity basketball team played Northville, then played Northville again and Gloversville in the Mayfield tournament. Although they didn’t win, Amber Kolpakas was the leading scorer for the Eagles in one game with 10 points. Anna Spadaro led the scoring with 10 points in another game. Keira Allen led the way with 11 points at the tournament and was named to the All Tournament Team! Congratulations Keira!

Attention 6th, 7th and 8th graders! Intramurals are TODAY in the elementary gym from 2:30pm to 3:20pm.You must have sneakers and appropriate clothing to participate. Be sure to fill out the late bus form by 1:00pm, even if you are getting picked up. Please contact Coach Canell with any questions or concerns.

 

Attention Science Club members: There is a meeting TODAY after school in Mr. Levin's room. If you cannot attend, please stop by to pick up your fundraising sheet. New members are welcome!

 

Attention Juniors! If you participate in the Bob's Tree Baling Fundraiser you can receive a discount off of your prom ticket! If you sign up for one 4.5 hour shift you will receive 10% off. If you sign up for two 4.5 hour shifts (for a total of 9 hours) you will receive 20% off. Sign up ASAP on the Class of 2025 Google Classroom and to get more info. NHS members can receive service hours for tree baling too! Email an officer with questions.

 

Attention Eagle Nation! Your grade could earn a mystery prize if you donate your grade's assigned item to the backpack program! The grade who donates the most will win the prize!:

6th graders should drop off your donations of toothpaste and toothbrushes to Mr. Nettleton's room.

7th graders should drop off your snack donations to Mrs. Deluca's room.

8th graders should drop off your soup donations to Mr. Kirvin's room.

Freshmen, please drop off your pasta and mac and cheese donations to Mr. McGowin's room.

Sophomores, drop off your canned meal donations to Mrs. Dowen's room.

Juniors, drop off your soap and body wash donations to Mrs. Ostrander's room.

Seniors, drop off deodorant donations to Mrs. Sheehey's room. Donations will be accepted until December 3rd and the mystery prize will be revealed at a later date. Be sure to participate so your grade wins! Thank you for your help! 

 

Attention Seniors! Sell those Hoffman Car Wash tickets! You can give people the QR code to order online or sell the tickets in person. They are on sale now until November 30th. All proceeds go towards your Senior Trip! 

 

Do you need a job? Are you interested in doing some fall clean-up, light lifting and shoveling for a person on Donnan Road? Please see Ms. Morck today to learn more!
