Congratulations to Jeanine Flinton for being named the 2021 Galway Outstanding Educator of the Year.
This academic year has been a challenging and unique experience for all stakeholders at Galway Central School. Jeanine has taken on the dual role as both an In-person and Virtual Project Lead the Way Educator. She not only has Master Teacher Credentials, but she is a master with a classroom on a cart, delivering engaging and challenging learning opportunities for both students and colleagues.
During the year, Jeanine spends hours after school (and many Saturdays) developing and perfecting her craft, as well as teaching others the PLTW curriculum. Summers are spent away from home, teaching educators across the country this exciting and innovative curriculum. Her knowledge and expertise is a jewel for the scholars she has touched throughout the years.
Jeanine started her teaching career at Galway as a 6th Grade Math Teacher in 2007. She then moved to 1st Grade for several years, then on to 4th Grade. Finally she landed in her present role as our Project Lead the Way Educator. Since then, she has dedicated her focus on merging 21st century skills and standards with hands-on, memorable, practical and enjoyable learning experiences.
Jeanine’s commitment to Galway Central School started long before 2007. Jeanine has been a lifelong member of the PTSA. She was a PTSA Volunteer of the Year, as well as serving as an PTSA Officer and Committee Member at countless school functions. Jeanine also happily and enthusiastically served as a Substitute Teacher for grades K- 12.
Jeanine is second to none when it comes to freely giving her time, energy, ideas and compassion, to her students and colleagues. Here are just a few committees, positions, and organizations that have benefitted from Jeanine’s commitment: CTE Department Head, Tech and Professional Development Committees, Robotics, Night of Code, Career Day and Odyssey of the Mind. She is involved with the Academic Pep Rally and in the past was an enthusiastic Chaperone at Camp Chingachgook- happily hiking Buck Mountain with encouragement to the most reluctant hikers.
The list goes on and on, but Jeanine’s most dedicated and successful role is as Wife, Mother and Friend. She selflessly gives to everyone around her and is the most dependable person on the planet. Jeanine is to be commended for the joy and commitment she brings to our Galway School Community and we are very proud to present her with the 2021 Outstanding Educator of the Year Award!
