ANNOUNCEMENTS/TODAY'S EVENTS

Here's to a great Tuesday Eagle Nation!  The key to success is to focus on goals, not obstacles.  The temperature has plummeted, so make sure you dress accordingly for the next few days, especially in the mornings as temperatures will be in the negative.   We kicked off another busy week at the Eagles Nest yesterday make sure you check below for the full week we have in store.  Check out the highlights of our teams from over the weekend also.  A reminder that we've had several schedule changes, so please keep checking our schedule updates below.  Only 58 days till Spring and just 18 days until Spring Training begins with Pitchers and Catchers reporting or MLB.  Today Baseball Hall of Fame announces who was elected to this year's class. Remember to keep it classy Eagle Nation!

  • In 1930 the Boston Bruins became the first team in NHL history to score 100 goals in a season, in a 5-1 win over Chicago at Boston Garden.
  • In 1954, for the first time in All-Star history, an overtime period was needed to decide a winner; Boston Celtics' guard Bob Cousy's 10-point OT scoring burst gave the East a 98-93 win; Cousy won All-Star MVP honors.
  • In 1958 the Phillies agreed to televise 78 games in NYC, but doesn't end up happening.
  • In 1967 the US female Figure Skating championship was won by Peggy Fleming.
  • In 1979 in Superbowl XIII the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Dallas Cowboys 35-31.

HIGHLIGHTS

Girls Basketball Highlights

The Varsity girls jumped out to an early lead over Johnstown yesterday in a mid-day game and never looked back. The team had a great defensive game holding Johnstown to just 2 points in the second quarter and 5 in the third quarter leading 43-16 heading into the final quarter of play. Brielle Cameron and Anna Spadaro led the team with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Mckenna Kanaby and Lilly Jessop each pitched 6 for the win 51-27. The team travels next to OESJ on Wednesday.

  • The JV girls won a thriller yesterday at Johnstown 36-34.  Amelia Jordan led the way with 19 points, including hitting two foul shots to give the Eagles the two-point victory.

Boys Basketball Highlights

On Friday the Varsity Boys Basketball team fell to Duanesburg 93-23. The player of the game was Chase Maher who had 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 block. 

Yesterday the Varsity Boys' Basketball team fell to Johnstown 35 to 76. The Eagles were led by Hayden Flint who had 11 points, Sam Reedy who had 8 points, and Eli Montague who had 7 points

Cheerleading Highlights

On Saturday our Cheerleaders traveled to Ballston Spa to compete in the Scotties Showdown.  The squad had an amazing showing as they placed 3rd overall.  Great work!

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Madelyn Sheft

Madelyn Sheft is new to our cheer team this year, but she is one of the hardest workers on the team. She always tries to do her best and encourages her teammates during practices, games, and competitions. Madelyn is always willing to try new stunts and step in wherever she is needed. She takes risks and asks questions which makes her a vital part of our team. Keep up the great work!

Amelia Jordan

Amelia was clutch for the Eagles over the weekend as she scored 19 points and hit the game-winning free throws to help the Eagles edge the Sir Bills. Amelia is a true leader on and off the court for her teammates as she is one of the team captains this year. She is also a role model for the community.  Amelia is also a Girl Scout and spends a lot of time volunteering to help others. Way to Go Amelia!
