Last night at Bob's Trees the WAC League held its 2 runner relay race meet. The team of Clarke and C. Schneider came in first and the team of Anuszewski and K. Schneider came in 2nd for the boys modified race. For modified girls, the team of Mitchell and Gabri came in first. For boys’ varsity, the team of Decker and Hilton came in 2nd and the team of Villano and Jordan came in 9th. For girls’ varsity, the team of Jordan and Drouin came in 3rd and the team of Colangelo and Mariani came in 13th. Great job Eagles! 


Today starting at 4:30 the volleyball teams have home games. Go to the gym in your best and brightest tie-dyes to show your support and cheer the Eagles to victory! 


Tomorrow and Thursday there will be a sign up on both Student Senate boards for students to request songs for the homecoming dance. These are the only two days for these requests though.


There is a Junior High Student Senate meeting today during lunch in Ms. Leonardo's room for any 7th or 8th grader interested in joining. 

 

There is an FFA meeting today at 2:30 in the Ag room. New members are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Galway had an amazing night in sports last night! 


Congratulations to the varsity girls’ soccer team who beat Fonda-Fultonville yesterday with a score of 4-1. 2 goals were scored by by Izzy Mancini and 2 by Steph Martin. Hannah French had 8 saves, and Ruth Reichard had 4 saves. Izzy, Stephanie and Gabi Scheeren all had assists. Great job Eagles! 


Last night the golf team avenged their only loss this season by defeating Schoharie, this time around on their own golf course.  Sam Neahr shot the second best round for Galway and clinched the win for us with a score of 9-6. The team is now 8 - 1. Awesome match Eagles! 


Congratulations to the girls’ JV volleyball team who beat Duanesburg last night. The girls play their first home game tomorrow at 4:30 against Schoharie, so go cheer them to victory! 


Congrats to the 8th grade volleyball team on their 2 sets to 1 win over Duanesburg. Their next match is Thursday against Canjo/Ft. Plain. Good luck Eagles!

Congratulations to the following winners at Saturday's Rosie’s Walk: Brian Alden won the 5.3 mile race with a time of 42:37. Holden Decker won the boys’ high school 3.8 mile race with a time of 22:00. Emma Jordan won the high school girls’ race with a time of 29:25. Taylor Germain won the girls’ modified race with a time of 32:41 and Casey Clarke won the boys modified race with a time of 30:10. Great job Eagles! 


The boys' modified soccer team earned their first victory and secured their first shutout by defeating Mekeel 5-0 on Saturday.  Noah Montague and Dylan Baxter each scored 2 goals and Chris Maher added another. Congratulations on a great start to the season team!


The boys’ varsity soccer team defeated Notre Dame - Bishop Gibbons on Friday 8-2 and Duanesburg on Saturday 7-0. Nice job Eagles!

Congratulations to the boys’ golf team who won 11-4 last night at OESJ. Matt Smith shot his third sectional qualifying round, while Ryan Lovelass is still undefeated. Awesome work Eagles! 

 

The boys’ varsity soccer team defeated Northville yesterday 5 to 0. Grayson Signor and Carter Scribner each scored once and Charlie Clarke scored three times. Rowan Smith, Konstantin Friederich, and Charlie Clarke all had one assist. Henry Flint made 4 saves and recorded his second shutout of the season. Excellent, Eagles! 

 

Congrats to the 7th grade volleyball team for splitting sets with Corinth, and to the 8th grade volleyball team for beating Corinth 2 sets to 0. Great job!

September 11 (Wednesday)


 Today we reflect, honor and commemorate the 18th year anniversary of September 11th, 2001. Many of you were not born then, but Americans will always remember that day. This was the day that our country was attacked and many lost their lives. Today, we remember the men and women who died; and those families who lost loved ones. Today, we honor those, such as firefighters, police officers, EMTs, hospital staff, and even everyday people who risked their lives to help others. Today, we celebrate America’s resilience, ability to work together, help one another, and commit to respecting all people --no matter race, culture or creed.


Please stand for a moment of silence as we honor the tens of thousands

From across America and around the world

Who came to help and to heal

Whose selflessness and resolve

Perseverance and courage

Renewed the spirit of a grieving city

The Lady Eagles volleyball team defeated Canjo/Fort Plain last night to start their season off 1-0.  The Lady Eagles were led by Julia Reedy with 8 kills and 2 aces, Amber Kolpakas with 7 kills, 11 points and 10 digs, and Hannah Hoffman added 9 points and 15 assists, while Anna Gardner add 7 kills.  Katy Kurtzner added 5 kills, and 15 digs while Kylee Decker added 11 assists. Well done Eagles!

Junior High class meetings will be taking place today. Mr. Miller and Miss Britt will be going over important info that pertains to you. Classes will be called down to the auditorium. Seventh graders will go first at 9:55 and eighth graders will meet this afternoon at 1:20. 

 

The golf team won last night defeating Northville/Mayfield by only giving up a half point out of the total possible of 15.  Ryan Lovelass shot even par and remains undefeated individually at 6 - 0. Great job guys!

Class meetings will be taking place throughout the morning today. High school students will be receiving your very own ChromeBook, including a case and charging cord. Mr. Miller and Miss Britt will also be going over other important info that pertains to you. Classes will be called down to the auditorium. Juniors will go first at 8:23, Seniors will meet at 9:07, Sophomores at 10:00, and Freshmen this afternoon at 1:18. Seventh and eighth graders will have their meetings tomorrow. 

 

Want to run 3 miles on hilly trails in all kinds of weather? This describes the challenging sport of cross country. If you join this week, you could still be eligible for the first league meet. See any cross country runner of Mr. Mal in room 305. 

 

Congratulations to the girls’ JV volleyball team, who went undefeated against Ballston Spa, Holy Names and Canjo/Fort Plain to advance to the Gold Bracket at the Broadalbin Perth Tournament this weekend. Congratulations also to Kailey Jankowski who was named to the All-Tournament Team! Well done Eagles! 

 

Student Senate is having a meeting in Mr. Kirvin's new room after school today. You will be voting on Spirit Week, the theme of Homecoming, and much more! New members are welcome.

Congratulations to the golf team who earned their fourth victory this season last night at their home course.  They beat Duanesburg who has been undefeated in league play since 2016. Galway golf has bested Duanesburg the last two years at tournament play but now they have outplayed them in a head to head contest. The golf team is now 4-1.

 

The new gym floor still isn’t quite ready for you yet, so all physical education classes will meet in the auditorium today.

The varsity boys’ soccer team defeated Mayfield last night 2-0. Goals were scored by Noah Flint and Braden Boudreau. Henry Flint made two saves and earned his first shutout of the season. Congratulations!

This afternoon, at the Galway Public Library, you can learn more about the Hubble telescope with Bill Hathaway from 3:00 – 5:00.  Bill was a graduate of Galway Central Schools and went on to work at NASA. Bill has worked on the International Ultraviolet Explorer, and, since its inception, on the Hubble Space Telescope. He will have a meet and greet session, and a presentation at 3:30. Hope to see you there!

The 2nd Annual Conor’s Cruisers Auto Show is coming up this Saturday! The event is being held right here at school, from 11am- 3pm! There will be games, raffles and all kinds of vendors. Your attendance will help support the Conor Bradshaw Memorial Scholarship, and also the freshman class! We want this year to be even more successful than last year, but we can only do it with your help. Spread the word, Eagle Nation!

There's still time to donate your gently used/new shoes to the Class of 2021 Shoe Drive! They will be collecting until this Friday; all sizes and styles are accepted. You can drop them in one of the collection bins, or bring them to Mrs. G in room 509. Please ask your friends, family, neighbors, etc. Thank you to all who have contributed so far.

Attention students grades 9-11, are you interested in running varsity co-ed cross country this fall? Right outside Mr. Mal's room, there is an information handout with everything you need to know about running cross country and a signup form.

 

Seniors will be released from classes at 1:50 today to go to the cafeteria. They will get their caps and gowns, walk through the elementary and enjoy some refreshments after! You’re almost there Class of 2019!
