Today is Tuesday, April 23rd, and it is a B day! We're so happy you’re here! Today’s lunch is mac and cheese.

 

In a stunning victory, the 6th Grade Chorus won a game of Forbidden Pattern against Ms. Booth in their last class. If they win again today, it will be their 3rd victory in a row. Good luck, 6th Grade Chorus!


Congratulations to the varsity baseball team on defeating Mayfield 19-6 yesterday. Tanner Bernard pitched a great game, striking out 8 batters. Colin Anderson had 5 RBI’s and scored 3 runs. Evan Schaperjahn led the team with 3 hits and 4 runs scored. Well done Eagles! 


Junior High Students have the state math tests again today, so the bells will be turned off in the morning. Please be respectful in the hallways. You’ve got this, Eagles!

In honor of National Poetry Month, the Galway Public Library is hosting an Open Mic poetry reading this Friday evening from 5:30-7:00 PM.  

 

If you need a summer job, the Saratoga County Summer Youth Employment Program applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Applications are due to the County by this Friday.  Anyone interested in this program should pick up an application from Ms. Morck today!

BREAKING NEWS EAGLE NATION!!! Prom tickets will be on sale during B and C lunches Thursday and Friday for $75! This is your last chance to buy a prom ticket and they will not reopen for sale after Friday. Seating charts will open Monday through Friday next week during 1st and 8th period in Mr. Linck’s room. Be sure to choose your table ahead of time. Tables will range from 4-8 people. Eight person tables are limited so be sure to get your table ASAP.

April 19 

Today is Friday, April 19th, and it is a B day! We're so happy you’re here! Today’s lunch is spaghetti and meatballs.

 

Last night, the girls modified softball team suffered a loss to OESJ in their first game of the season, 14-3. Amelia Leclerc went 2-3 with 2 singles, an RBI, and a run. Brinley Stead had an RBI single, and carried the team on the mound with 7 strikeouts and 6 walks. Grace Murphy chipped in with a single and a run.The team is back in action today at Hadley- Luzerne. Good luck Eagles! 

 

Last night in co-ed varsity track WAC League action, Galway ran at Fonda. The varsity girls lost 103 to 27. The boys lost 91-50.Simon Evans won the 1600 and 3200, Ethan Watrobski won the 400 hurdles,

and Eben Perkins won the High Jump. Well done Eagles! 

 


The Festival of Nations was a great success last night. Thank you to all participants, volunteers and attendees for making the night so fun and full of new cultural experiences!

Today is Thursday, April 18th, and it is an A day! It’s also Poem in Your Pocket Day! We're so happy you’re here! Today’s lunch is a turkey sub.

Happy birthday today to sixth grader Paige Walcott! 

 

Congratulations to the varsity baseball team on their 9-5 victory over Duanesburg yesterday! The team scored 6 runs in the 7th inning to overcome a 5-2 deficit. JJ Schaperjahn had a 2 RBI single to take the lead and TJ LaMoy sealed the victory with a 2 run home run. Great game Eagles!

Today is Wednesday, April 17th, and it is a B day! We're so happy you’re here! Today’s lunch is cheese or mushroom pizza.

 

Happy birthday today to freshman Grayson Eagan! 

 

Last night in co-ed varsity track WAC League action, Galway hosted BKW. The girls lost 15 to 111, and Heather Ehrenberg won the 400. 

The boys lost 57 to 91. However, the 4x800 relay team of Cody Schneider, Jakob Teeling, Jacob Bruchac and Trevor Bombard won. Simon Evans won the 3200. Kyle Schneider won the pole vault. Great job Eagles! 

 

Attention 6th, 7th and 8th graders! Intramurals are today in the elementary gym from 2:30pm to 3:20pm.You must have sneakers and appropriate clothing to participate. Be sure to fill out the late bus form by 1:00pm, even if you are getting picked up. Please contact Coach Canell with any questions or concerns.

 

Attention FFA members. If you are going to the State Convention, see Mrs. Levine ASAP if you have not gotten the list of tours available. She needs your request back by the end of the day TODAY!

Congratulations to senior Shamus Evans who competed yesterday with his father in the Boston Marathon! They really crushed it and broke 3 hours with a time of 2 hours, 55 minutes and 35 seconds! Go to the WNYT website to see their video interview on Shamus and Mr. Evans! Congratulations! 

 

Congratulations to the varsity baseball team who defeated Fort Plain 13-9 yesterday. Tyler Friedman struck out 7 batters and Carson Eagan pitched 1.1 scoreless innings to secure the win. Evan Schaperjahn chipped in with 2 hits and an RBI. Galway moves to 2-0 in the division and will play Duanesburg on Wednesday. Go Eagles!

We wish Shamus Evans and his dad good luck as they run the Boston Marathon for the first time today! They start the race at 9:30 this morning and it’s 26.2 miles long! Eagle Nation is cheering on Shamus and Mr. Evans!

Today is Wednesday, April 10th, and it is an A day!

Last night in WAC League Co-ed varsity track action: 

The girls fell to Fort Plain/OESJ 99 to 25 and to McKeel, 52 to 47.

Mae Budris won the girls' discus event.

The boys defeated Fort Plain/OESJ 90 to 33 and McKeel, 103 to 19.

Events winners were as follows:

Evans, Cody Schneider, Bombard and Teeling won the 4x800 relay.

Eben Perkins won the 110 high hurdles.

Simon Evans won the 1600 and 3200.

Francesco, Marco, Chase Ruggerio and Eaton won the 4x100 relay.

Ethan Watrobski won the 400 intermediate hurdles.

Jacob Teeling won the 800. 

Cody Schneider, Chase Ruggerio, Trevor Bombard, and Simon Evans won the 4x400 relay.

Cody Schneider won the high jump. 

Ethan Watrobski won the long jump. 

Chase Ruggerio and Kyle Schneider tied for the win in pole vault.

Today is Monday, April 8th, and it is an A day! We hope you had a great break! We're so happy you’re here! Today’s lunch is something amazing.

 

To start off the news for you, Eagle Nation, we have the results for the Frigid Cup Invitational at Guilderland High School on Saturday. 

Simon Evans came in sixth place in the 3200 run. 

The 4x800 relay team of Evans, Cody Schneider, Teeling and Bombard came in seventh place. 

Mae Budris was 7th in shot put and 5th place in discus. 

Clark Anuszewski was third in shot put.  

Chase Ruggiero came in sixth in pole vault.

Kyle Schnieder was seventh in pole vault. 

The varsity girls came in 13th place overall, while the boys varsity team came in 12th. Well done Eagles!

It's the final day of National Drug and Alcohol facts week. SADD is taking the opportunity to share a different fact everyday to spread awareness about substance use. We would like to provide a trigger warning that the following content includes use/abuse of alcohol and/or drugs. Today's fact pertains to marijuana. Marijuana is a drug that has many names such as Mary Jane, Devil’s Lettuce, Grass, Za, Pot, and Weed. The cannabis plant contains the mind-altering chemical THC and other similar compounds. Marijuana is one of the most used drugs in the United States, and its use is widespread among young people, aged 18 to 25- reaching at least 11.8 million people in the past year. 

Many who use this drug however, suffer from side effects such as breathing problems, increased heart rate, problems with child development during and after pregnancy, and intense nausea or vomiting. Cannabis may be legal in New York but not until you are 21 years old. Please do not use this drug if you are underage. It’s important to stay healthy, safe, and drug free, Eagle Nation!

Today's fact pertains to methamphetamine. Methamphetamine, or meth, is a highly addictive stimulant with detrimental effects on human health- its use causes aggression, memory loss, behavioral problems, psychosis, cardiovascular damage, malnutrition, and severe tooth decay with continued misuse. Meth is a commonly abused drug in the US, with more 16.8 million people over the age of 12 reporting that they have used meth at least once in their lifetime, and 2.5 million people reporting its use in the past 12 months. Meth not only damages your mind and body, but society as a whole. Meth is the leading drug that contributes to violent crime, and its misuse often leads to unemployment and child abuse. It’s important to stay healthy, safe, and drug free, Eagle Nation!

We would like to provide a trigger warning that the following content includes use/abuse of alcohol and/or drugs. Today's fact pertains to heroin. Heroin is an opioid drug made from morphine, a natural substance taken from the seed pod of the various opium poppy plants grown in Southeast and Southwest Asia, Mexico, and Colombia. Heroin can be a white or brown powder, or a black sticky substance known as black tar heroin. This is a highly addictive substance and has many problematic health effects. It’s important to stay healthy, safe, and drug free, Eagle Nation!

Thanks to all the teachers who made Friday night a lot of fun at the GTA vs. Albany DJs basketball game! Thanks to all the students and families and supporters who attended! Over $3600 was raised for the Scholarship Fund! The teachers won by 1 point thanks to Avery Albarelli for hitting the game winning shot! We hope to see everyone again next year!

For the first year ever, the Eagles will have a team from every division representing Galway at the Odyssey of the Mind State Tournament in Syracuse on April 13th! February 29 has been dubbed “Leap of Kindness Day” by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, and the idea of using it to do something kind for someone else is catching on around the world. The initiative matches up nonprofits that have a need with businesses and individuals who can meet the need. Tomorrow, in honor of Leap of Kindness Day, Student Council will be collecting donations for animals, including dog and cat food, clumping cat litter, and cat or dog treats! Donation boxes will be near all the main entrances to the building: main office lobby, Big G, and Ag and Band room hall entrance! Thank you in advance for your support!

Congratulations to the JV girls basketball team on finishing their season last week with a 35 to 16 win over Schoharie in the crossover game. Brielle Cameron led the team with a game high 16 points. The team had a great season finishing with 14 and 6 record. Captains for the team during the season were Kiersten Friday, Kristina Becker, Lilly Jessop, Amelia Jordan, and Emma Menge. The full roster of players also included Sadie Stead, Kaitlyn Delsavio, Lilly Bain, Marliegh Morse, Ava Thompson and Colleen Thorpe.Some of the highlights of the season included winning against each team in the league, winning the Mayfield Holiday tournament, and winning over a tough Hoosic Valley team at home by 14 points. Congrats on a great season, Eagles!

All permission slips need to be turned in to the main office by next Thursday. Slips were sent home with report cards. See Mrs. Britten, Mrs. Brewster or Mr. Linck if you need another one. 

 

The Senior Class is doing Jar Wars next week during all lunches! The class with the most coins by the end of the week gets to volunteer one student from their class to pie one of the FFA officers in the face during our Winter Pep Rally. Don’t forget, all dollar bills in other classes’ jars are BAD LUCK for them and give them negative points. Make sure you put all your dollars in your rival classes’ jars! So Eagle Nation, bring in your spare change and battle it out to see who is the best class in this school! May the best class win!
