Coronavirus Update March 10, 2020
Posted on 03/10/2020
Dear Parents and Guardians:

It came to our attention that a person connected to our school district is under self-quarantine due to possible exposure to COVID-19. This person has NOT been diagnosed with COVID-19 and shows NO symptoms related to the virus. This person was concerned about possibly being in the proximity of someone who was diagnosed with COVID-19. We since learned that the two were never in the same building at the same time.

Out of an abundance of caution, the district contacted the Saratoga County Health Office, who advised us that since the person connected with our district had no interaction with the person diagnosed with COVID-19, he/she had no exposure to the virus, and thus poses zero risk to the school population. Families of students who were in contact with this person have been contacted by administrators by phone.

Our district’s first responsibility is to safeguard the health and well-being of students, staff, and community. Please know that the district continues to disinfect the school building and bus fleet on a regular basis. We encourage any student or staff member who feels ill to stay at home to limit the spread of illness and contact your primary care physician. Exposure to COVID-19 can occur from any person-to-person contact. For now, the most important thing you can do to protect yourself and your family is to follow the standard preventive practices for influenza.

We are committed to keeping you informed through SchoolMessenger and the district website in a timely manner as soon as new information arises. The district is your primary source for factual information.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation, as we know this is a serious matter of great concern to many of our families. Please contact the superintendent’s office if you have any questions. You can also click here for additional information on COVID-19 and contact information for County Health Departments.

Sincerely,

Brita Donovan, Superintendent of Schools
