ANNOUNCEMENTS/TODAY'S EVENTS

Hello Monday! Today is your chance to shine, to be the best version of yourself, and to radiate positivity.  Welcome Back, EAGLE NATION!!!!!! We hope you had a wonderful Break and Easter, and that you got lots of relaxation and spent time with family.  Today is the start of the fourth marking period as we head into the final stretch run of the school year, so make sure you stay focused and cross that finish line.  There was a lot of action on the diamond over break, so make sure to check out the scores and highlights.  Spring sports kick it into full gear this week as all athletic teams will have games/events. The Varsity Softball team hosts its Cancer game tonight as they host Mayfield in support of a 5-year-old from Mayfield who is currently battling cancer.

HIGHLIGHTS

Softball Highlights

The varsity softball team won all three of their games over break. 
On Monday, they 
defeated Fort Plain 10-0. Emma Menge went the distance in the circle, striking out 12 and only giving up 3 hits. The Eagles were led by Courtney Smith, who smashed a double with the bases loaded to clear them to open the scoring for the Eagles. Rylie Glenn added two hits with an RBI.  Brielle Cameron added 2 hits, with an RBI.
On Tuesday, they knocked off the #9 team in the State as they defeated previously unbeaten Saratoga Catholic in a non-league pitchers' duel 2-0. Emma Menge went the distance in the circle, striking out 11 and only giving up 2 hits, and threw her second shutout in a row. Lily Bain picked up a clutch single in the 2nd inning to score Samantha Becker. The Eagles added an insurance run in the 6th on a passed ball. Menge, Courtney Smith, and Kristina Becker all had singles for the Eagles.  
On Wednesday, the Eagles traveled to Hoosick Valley and defeated Hoosic Valley 16-5. Emma Menge picked up the win going the distance as she struck out 13 and gave up 2 earned runs. Kristina Becker led the way for the Eagles, going 4 for 5 with 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored.  Kiera Allen went 4-4 with 2 RBIs, and Courtney Smith added 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and 4 runs scored. Rylie Glenn added two hits with an RBI.
The Eagles are now 6-1 on the season and 3-0 in league play.
  • The JV Softball team defeated BKW on Monday by a score of 5-1.  Rylie Glenn went 4-4 with 3 runs scored to lead the Eagles.  Katy Ferguson picked up the win in the circle, going 4 innings in relief and striking out two.  Brinley Stead had two hits and two RBIs for the Eagles as they moved to 3-0 on the season.  The Eagles play at home today (Town Field) and tomorrow (Varsity Field).

Baseball Highlights

The Varsity Baseball team battled in two non-league games over break, falling just short in both games.  On Tuesday, the Eagles fell to Hoosic Valley 5-7.  Tanner Bernard, Seth Kenyon, Andy Miller, and JJ Schaperjahn each collected two hits for the Eagles.

On Thursday, the Eagles hosted Hadley-Luzerne, falling 4-5.  JJ Schaperjahn and Cleighton Schaperjahn collected both hits for the Eagles.  The Eagles fell to 2-3 on the season.  They are back in action tonight as they host Mayfield 



ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Courtney Smith

This week, we celebrate Courtney Smith as our Athlete of the Week for her outstanding performance.  Over the break, Courtney hit .444 with a double, 5-RBIs, 5-Runs scored, and 4 walks.  She was a wall behind the plate as she didn't allow a stolen base or a passed ball over the three games to help lead the Eagles to a 3-0 record. Off the field, Courtney is known for her sportsmanship and leadership, inspiring her teammates to push their limits. Her hard work and dedication exemplify the spirit of athletics, making her a true role model in the community. Congratulations, Courtney!
