ANNOUNCEMENTS/TODAY'S EVENTS

Happy Friday! May your day go by quickly, and may your weekend be filled with lovely surprises, EAGLE NATION!!!!!!   We had a lot of action in athletics last night, as our girls' soccer team came up with a big win over BKW-D'burg last night.  This weekend is action-packed for athletics as Cross Country heads to Vermont to run.  The Varsity Volleyball team hosts an all-day tournament, and the JV Volleyball team travels to the Burnt Hills Tournament.  There will continue to be some chilly mornings over the next few days, so bundle up in the morning.  Make sure to get out and support our athletes.  

  • We have started the sale of our Varsity Jackets early this year, so we can end the sales in early October, and will be able to have them in time for Christmas.  Please see the link below for registration.  

Homecoming week is the week of September 22 - 27.

HIGHLIGHTS

Volleyball Highlights

Congratulations to the varsity volleyball team, who defeated BKW last night in a WAC league match, 25-10, 25-12, 25-13.  Keira Allen led the Eagles with 13 kills and 10 digs.  Courtney Smith added 8 kills and 10 digs.  Kenzie Gardiner dished out 18 assists, while Kristina Becker dished out 11 assists.  Galway moves to 2-0 in the WAC and 2-0 overall. 
  • The JV Volleyball swept BKW in two sets with scores of 25-10 and 25-14. Brinley Stead led the way for the Eagles with 14 points serving. Kaydience Briggs led the team in kills with 4, Katy Ferguson and Mara Allen led the team in assists with 7 each, and Rylie Glenn led the team in digs with 8. The team moves to 2-0 on the season.

Girls Soccer Highlights

Congratulations to the Galway Girls Varsity soccer team, which earned a hard-fought 2–0 victory last night against a strong BKW-Duanesburg team.  The Eagles broke through late in the first half when Brielle Cameron found the back of the net off a feed from Norah Schaperjahn, giving Galway a 1–0 lead heading into halftime.  BKW-D came out strong in the second half, creating a back-and-forth battle, but the Galway defense held firm and played smart. In the closing minutes, Eva Anderson won a crucial corner kick, which Mae Budris delivered perfectly into the box for Norah Schaperjahn to finish, sealing the 2–0 win. With the win, Galway improves to 1–1 in league play and 2–2 overall.

Golf Highlights

The Golf team fell to Canjo-FP-OESJ last night, 14-1.  Colton Knickerbocker picked up the Eagles' lone point as he defested his competition by shooting a 52.  Andy Miller picked up another Sectional Qualifier, shooting a 43, but fell to his competition by one stroke. Matt Jones and Cody Lanka both shot 53s. Jacob Page shot a 68, and Jacob Hoffman shot a 70 for the Eagles.

Boys Soccer Highlights

In Galway's first home game, BKW-D'burg started fast, scoring within the first 10 minutes. BKW would go on to score 9 more times to finish the game 10-0. BKW would outshoot Galway 20-0.  The Eagles fall to 0-3-1 on the season.

This is Eleanor's fifth cross-country season, and she showed up to practice this summer ready to work! She has a positive attitude and is working hard. Great work, Eleanor, keep it going
