Girls Soccer Highlights
Last night, the Varsity Girls Soccer team traveled to Waterford-Halfmoon to take on Berlin-New Lebanon in a non-league match under the lights. The Galway Golden Eagles soared to a 1–0 victory over BNL in a hard-fought non-league matchup. Galway controlled play from the start, with Brielle Cameron firing dangerous crosses into the box and keeping Berlin’s defense under constant pressure.
Scoreless at the half, the Eagles stayed patient and didn’t lose energy. With six minutes left, Norah Schaperjahn played a ball into the keeper, who couldn’t keep hold of it. Brielle Cameron was there to tap in the game-winner.
Galway’s defense stayed steady all night with strong efforts from Lilly Jessop, Mae Budris, Eva Anderson, and Kaylee Jessop. Captain Olivia Davison-Gauss anchored the midfield, helping the Eagles own possession and dictate play. Up top, freshmen rookies Maddy Verret and Sophia Fiorillo kept Berlin on their heels.
With the win, the Eagles move to 8–5 overall. The girls are back in action as they close up league play on Friday against Cobleksill-Richmondville.
