Softball Highlights
Congratulations to the Varsity Softball team as they defeated the #9 team in the state, Greenwich, 10-7 in the Section 2 Class C finals to capture their first sectional title since 1988 and move onto the state tournament for the first time in school history. Courtney Smith led the Eagles with a triple and a two-run home run as she finished with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Rylie Glenn added two RBIs, while Sadie Stead and Avery Menge had two hits apiece. Kiera Allen had an RBI and two runs scored, and Kristina Becker added an RBI single. Lily Bain also singled for the Eagles. Emma Menge battled in the circle all night as she went the distance to pick up the win while striking out 7. Kenzie Gardiner made an incredible catch in right field late in the game to keep Greenwich from tacking on any more runs. It’s just the second Sectional championship for Softball in school history. The Eagles move on to the State Quarterfinals on Friday as they travel to Plattsburgh to take on the #7 team in the state, Ticonderoga, at 4:30 p.m. The Eagles move to 19-3 on the year.
