Girls Soccer Highlights
The Galway Girls Varsity Soccer team delivered a diverse team performance yesterday afternoon, defeating Schenectady in their final guaranteed home game of the season. The team had six different players find the back of the net. Norah Schaperjahn led the scoring with two goals, while Mae Budris, Josie Price, Olivia Davison-Gauss, and Eva Anderson each contributed one in the run of play. Senior and rookie Kaitlyn DelSavio scored her first career goal, finishing off a corner kick delivered by Nadia LaBate. Kaitlyn put away the team's first goal off a corner kick this season! Assists came from Schaperjahn (2), Price (2), LaBate (2), and DelSavio (1). On the defensive end, rookie keeper Lily Bain turned away 7 saves to secure another clean sheet, bringing her season total to 8 shutouts. Galway showed flexibility in the second half as players stepped up into new positions across the field. With the win, the girls improve their overall record to 8-4. They will look to add another win to the score line when they travel to Gloversville for a non-league matchup on Friday afternoon.
