Galway - PTSA


The Galway PTSA is an organization comprised of parents, teachers, students and community members all working towards the common goal of enhancing and enriching the lives of all the children in our community. 


We work with school administration and faculty to provide enrichment, volunteer and monetary support for students in grades K-12. Below are some of the events, programs and goals of the Galway PTSA: 

Jr./Sr. High School

We organize and/or provide monetary support for the following…..

  • 28 awards given away to graduating seniors
  • Academic Awards Banquet
  • Arts in Education & Exploratory Enrichment
  • After Prom Party
  • HS BBQ held during field day
  • National Honor Society induction reception
  • Graduation Reception held immediately following graduation
  • We created a program in 2004 in which we have 5th grade students write a letter to the juniors and seniors asking them to please remember to make good decisions during the prom and graduation season. This program benefits all involved by reminding our older students to be responsible and safe and giving our 5th grade students an opportunity to use the skills they learned through the DARE program.

Elementary School

We organize and/or provide monetary support for the following…..

  • Scholastic Book Fairs
  • Elementary Picnic
  • Holiday Gift Shop
  • Family Night
  • Meet the Teacher Night refreshments
  • Open House refreshments
  • Science Fair awards
  • Kindergarten Screening (we also provide each incoming K student a new Scholastic book)

Other areas of Support….

  • Enrichment Sponsorship for those students in need
  • Teacher Wish List – providing each teacher with a monetary amount to be used for those classroom items that are needed, but not a part of the school budget.
  • Spirit Wear – We offer a line of clothing featuring the school name and logo in an effort to promote school spirit. Please visit the Spirit Wear link for an order form.
  • School wide pictures – offering parents an opportunity to purchase portrait packages at a reduced rate
  • We have provided miscellaneous funding to many departments within the school
  • PTSA Programs…..
  • PTSA Sponsored Dance Program

PTSA Achievements and Goals:

  • New playground located next to the Creative Playground
  • New Pavilion between the playground and the track
  • Picnic tables for the pavilion
  • Major contributor towards auditorium curtain replacement project in 2009!
  • Earned over $16,000+ in Scholastic Books/Merchandise for school in past two years!!
  • Free Scholastic book of choice for all K-5 and Head Start students in 2010!!
  • Major contributor towards new electronic school sign and new Joseph Henry school sign.
  • New outside basketball court: Is on hold for now until Capital project work decided upon


  • We raise funds through our annual fall and spring fundraisers and school pictures. These funds are used for our yearly events, programs and Senior Awards.  These funds are dedicated to providing enrichment programs for K-12 students. Please see our Fundraising page for more information.
  • We need the talents and time of many volunteers! Volunteering does not mean that you are committed to helping every week or even every month. If you could just volunteer a couple of hours each school year – you would make a huge difference. The more volunteers – the more we can do for our children!
